🚨 We’re back! - ChatGPT Gets an AI Agent

+ Anthropic’s Claude Code is your new AI dev, Unitree releases the cheapest Humanoid yet, and Sam Altman says ChatGPT therapy sessions aren’t confidential

After a short break, we are back in action and returning to our regular newsletter schedule → Sundays and Wednesdays. Twice a week. No fluff. Just the sharpest drops in AI. Here is the latest:

ChatGPT Agent is here, OpenAI’s new AI assistant that doesn’t just respond, it takes action. It clicks, types, navigates, and completes tasks using its own virtual computer.

Anthropic’s Claude Code is trending again as devs realize it’s not just a coding assistant, but it’s a terminal-native engineer that edits, runs, and ships.

Unitree’s R1 is a new $5.9K humanoid that moves like a gymnast and is the cheapest full-body robot on the market. And in a rare public warning, Sam Altman reminded users that ChatGPT therapy chats aren’t legally confidential, which is a sharp reality check as AI gets more personal.

Let’s get into it.

"The best way to predict the future is to invent it."

AI Agent

ChatGPT Now Has an AI Agent

This week, OpenAI rolled out the ChatGPT Agent, a unified smart agent that can research, plan, and act using its own virtual computer, handling multi-step tasks with minimal input. It's live in Beta for Pro, Plus, and Team users, and it's changing what AI assistants can actually do for you.

🧩 Behind the Agent: What Powers It

  • A full toolset: visual browser, text browser, code terminal, file manager, and app connectors (Gmail, GitHub, calendar, etc.)

  • Runs on a virtual machine so it can click, scroll, download, and work like a real assistant

  • You stay in control, it asks before taking real-world actions (logging in, submitting forms, purchases)

🧪 Real Use Cases

  • Prep for meetings: scans your calendar, pulls recent news, and builds a strategy deck

  • Book a dinner: plans a 6-course meal, finds recipes, shops for ingredients

  • Build financial models: updates your Excel sheet, adds projections, and summarizes assumptions

  • Run competitor research: finds data, runs analysis, returns slides and tables — editable and exportable

🧷 Where It Shines, Where It Doesn’t

  • Excels at: workflow-heavy tasks that mix web research, structured output, and light reasoning

  • Still maturing: slideshow exports are clunky, login-required tasks need your input, and it occasionally needs a nudge mid-task

  • Designed for iteration: you can pause, tweak, redirect, or pick up where you left off, just like a real assistant that listens and adjusts

🚨 Who Gets Access

  • Rolling out now to Pro (400 tasks/month), Plus & Team (40)

  • Enterprise and Education coming soon

  • Not yet available in the EU/Switzerland

  • Activate it via the “Agent Mode” in your ChatGPT tools menu

If GPT-4 was the brain, this is the body: a system that can take action, coordinate tools, and deliver usable results. For the first time, OpenAI is putting an agent in users’ hands. It’s early, imperfect, and not fully autonomous, but it quietly marks the start of AI that works on your behalf, not just by your side.

ALPHA DROP

(Where we spotlight one powerful tool or feature to help you stay ahead.)

Claude Code Is Your AI Developer

Claude Code drops Anthropic’s most powerful model, Opus 4, directly into your terminal. Raw, agentic intelligence that understands your entire codebase, edits files, runs shell commands, and pushes working commits in minutes.

It’s been quietly live since February, but this week it’s trending hard as dev teams realize what it actually unlocks.

🧑‍💻 Why Devs Are Paying Attention

  • Understands everything: Reads your codebase, test suite, structure, and Command Line Interface tools

  • Acts, not chats: Refactors, builds features, generates tests, fixes bugs, commits to Git on command

  • Uses CLAUDE.md: Injects project-specific context so it writes code that fits your standards

  • MCP support: Hooks into GitHub, Slack, VS Code, Jira, and more to power full-stack agent workflows

  • Never touches your files without asking: Human-in-the-loop by design

🛠 What You Can Use It For

  • Get up to speed fast on massive codebases

  • Turn GitHub issues into pull requests while you grab coffee

  • Run structured refactors across dozens of files

  • Build internal tools without burning sprint cycles

  • Pair program with Claude Opus 4, but in the terminal, not a chat box

🧷 Technicals to Know

  • Requires setup: CLAUDE.md + terminal config

  • Integrates seamlessly with VS Code and JetBrains IDEs

  • Works on macOS, Linux, Windows (via Node.js 18+)

This isn’t autocomplete. It’s agentic development with actual awareness of your environment. Claude Code shifts the dev stack from “copilot” to autonomous engineering assistant — one that’s already shipping production-level work for teams at Figma, Intercom, Ramp, and Anthropic itself.

Real World AI

Humanoid That Moves Like a Gymnast

Humanoid robots usually cost more than a luxury car and move like clunky machines. The R1 flips that…literally.

This week, Chinese robotics company Unitree unveiled the R1, a full-body humanoid that can run, balance, and perform acrobatic stunts—all for just $5,900. It’s not sci-fi or a CGI demo. It’s real, and it's aimed directly at developers and researchers looking to bring AI into the physical world.

🦿 What It’s Made Of & What It Can Do

  • 26 joints (DOF), 121 cm tall, 25 kg

  • Onboard CPU, GPU, voice mics, and speakers

  • Vision + voice AI for real-time interaction

  • Performs squats, pushups, backflips, and basic walking/running

  • 1-hour runtime via modular battery

  • WiFi + Bluetooth built-in for control and updates

⚠️ Limitations & Access

  • No hands and can't grab or manipulate objects

  • Likely pre-programmed but not fully autonomous

  • Not consumer-ready, currently sold to devs only via Unitree

  • Documentation and support geared toward technical users

The R1 isn’t built for your living room, but it changes who gets to build the future of robotics. At under $6K, it drops the barrier for embodied AI from elite labs to independent teams. That’s a major shift in who gets to innovate in the physical world.

Altman Says ChatGPT Therapy Sessions Aren’t Confidential

Source: Nathan Howard/Bloomberg via Getty Images

In a recent episode of This Past Weekend with Theo Von, Sam Altman warned that conversations with ChatGPT aren’t protected by legal confidentiality, even if you treat them like therapy. No HIPAA, no attorney-client privilege. In a legal case, your AI chats could be subpoenaed.

For anyone pouring their heart into Claude or GPT, it's a reminder: these models aren’t your therapist and they’re definitely not bound by law to keep your secrets.
