⚡OpenAI DevDay 2025: A New Era for AI
+ The "Tinder" for Jobs goes live, xAI Drops a Free Video Model, and Deloitte’s $440K AI fiasco hits headlines

AI just entered its platform era.
OpenAI DevDay 2025 unveiled the company’s boldest evolution yet — transforming ChatGPT from an assistant into an entire platform with apps, agents, and multimodal models built in.
Then came Sorce, a YC-backed startup that officially launched its “Tinder for jobs” app, letting users swipe right on roles and have AI apply automatically with resumes and cover letters filled out for you.
xAI followed with Imagine v0.9, a major upgrade to its video-generation model that adds smoother motion, sharper visuals, and synchronized audio. And Deloitte is refunding part of a $440K report to the Australian government after admitting its use of AI led to fabricated quotes and fake citations.
Let’s get into it.

DevDay 2025: The Day ChatGPT Became a Platform
At its second-ever DevDay in San Francisco, Sam Altman unveiled a new generation of models, APIs, and tools that make it possible for anyone to build directly inside ChatGPT. The scale alone was staggering: 4.5 million developers, 800 million weekly ChatGPT users, and over 6 billion tokens processed per minute across OpenAI’s platform. What followed were the biggest updates since GPT-4 — effectively turning ChatGPT into the “AI operating system” of the web.
🧩 Product Announcements
Apps in ChatGPT (SDK + Preview) — Chat with apps directly inside ChatGPT or build new ones using the Apps SDK. Developers can embed experiences like Spotify, Zillow, Canva, and Expedia directly into chat — the first step toward an in-chat app ecosystem.
AgentKit — A toolkit for creating and deploying production-grade AI agents with persistent memory, API actions, and built-in debugging tools.
SORA 2 on the API — Integrate OpenAI’s cinematic text-to-video model into any app for HD, multi-shot video generation with detailed motion and style control.
Codex — New features like a Slack integration, Codex SDK, and enterprise controls in Code
GPT-5 Pro in the API — OpenAI’s most precise model yet, designed for reasoning, research, and high-accuracy enterprise use cases.
GPT Real-Time Mini — A lightweight voice model that’s 70 % cheaper, enabling real-time conversations and embedded speech interfaces.
GPT-Image-1-Mini — A compact image generation model that’s 80 % cheaper, optimized for mobile, marketing, and product design.
💡 Why It Matters: This DevDay wasn’t about a single model — it was about infrastructure. OpenAI officially shifted from building one assistant to building the platform that powers everyone else’s. By merging agents, apps, and multimodal APIs into a unified ecosystem, OpenAI is consolidating the AI stack under ChatGPT’s roof. The cheaper models slash barriers for startups, AgentKit and the Apps SDK give developers autonomy, and GPT-5 Pro reclaims the technical crown from rivals. More than an upgrade, DevDay 2025 marks the moment ChatGPT became the interface layer for the next generation of AI-powered products.

AI for Jobs
Sorce: The Tinder for Jobs
Sorce (@sorcejobs) is building Tinder for Jobs.
When you swipe right, AI navigates to the company’s website and applies on your behalf. It writes cover letters, too.
Congrats @marvy_101, @davidaladee & @therealdajayi on the launch!

The YC-backed startup Sorce just officially launched, aiming to make job hunting feel less like a chore and more like swiping on your favorite app.
Built by a small team from MIT, Nvidia, Tesla, and JPMorgan, Sorce joined Y Combinator’s 2025 batch with one bold idea: replace endless job forms with a single swipe. You swipe right on a role, and an AI agent jumps in — filling out the company application, attaching your résumé, and even writing a custom cover letter on the spot.
After months in beta, the company is now live to everyone on web and mobile.
⚙️ How It Works
Set up your profile once — upload your résumé, experience, and career goals.
Swipe through job listings that match your background and interests.
Right-swipe to apply — Sorce’s AI handles the full application process, from forms to cover letters.
Track your status — see which companies have received your application and where you’re in the process.
💼 What You Can Do
Browse curated job listings from verified employers.
Automatically apply across multiple platforms without leaving the app.
Let the AI generate tailored cover letters and fill repetitive forms.
Get matched faster using a single “Passport” profile that works everywhere.
Access analytics to see where your applications are landing.
💡 Why It Matters
If you’ve applied for a job recently, you know how painful it is — endless logins, long forms, and ghosted applications. Sorce is built for that frustration. It flips the process from time-consuming and repetitive to simple and instant. And in a market where layoffs and competition are high, tools that help you apply smarter and faster actually matter.
For every candidate burned out by broken application portals, Sorce offers something different: speed, simplicity, and a sense of control. Whether it ends up replacing job boards or just making them tolerable, it’s a refreshing step in the right direction.

Grok Imagine v0.9
Excited to share my first project at @xai. Imagine v0.9 is a massive upgrade within just few weeks. No goal is too ambitious for a small team of hardcore engineers. Our model is improving at light speed. Stay tuned for what’s next!

xAI just dropped Grok Imagine v0.9, a major upgrade over the v0.1 baseline — boosting visual fidelity, smoother motion, native audio generation, dynamic camera effects, and more. The tool is now available for free across xAI’s product suite.
✨ What’s New in v0.9
Baseline enhancements — improved textures, frame-to-frame consistency, sharper details
Boosted motion & camera effects — fluid pans, focus shifts, more realistic trajectory control
Native audio & expressive vocals — synchronized sound and singing built in, not layered later
Multimodal coherence (Modality upgrade) — better alignment across video, audio, and scene elements
Open access — no paywalls; v0.9 is unlocked for all users across xAI’s apps
Grok Imagine v0.9 marks a shift toward making video + audio generation a default tool, not just a niche experiment. If these upgrades hold up in real use, xAI could begin to challenge incumbents in the generative media space — not because it has the flashiest model, but because it’s embedding video generation into everyday workflows. Opening it freely also flips the bets: the more creators try it, the faster the iteration and the stronger the model. In a world where access, integration, and community momentum matter as much as raw accuracy, this is a bold play.

AI Gone Bad
Deloitte to Refund Australian Govt After AI Errors in $440K Report
Deloitte Australia has agreed to refund part of a $440,000 report it delivered to the federal government after investigators found numerous AI-generated errors, including fake quotes, nonexistent studies, and misattributed citations. The 237-page report, commissioned by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, was meant to evaluate welfare compliance systems. Instead, it cited a judge who never said the quoted words, referenced research that didn’t exist, and contained footnotes pulled from thin air. Deloitte later admitted it had used Azure OpenAI to help draft sections of the report and issued a corrected version.
The incident has sparked debate over how much trust can be placed in AI-assisted consulting. Lawmakers called it a “serious breach of professional standards,” and critics say it highlights a growing problem: when AI hallucinates, accountability can’t be automated. Deloitte insists the report’s findings remain valid and says its refund covers the final installment of the project. But for many, this is a wake-up call, showing that even billion-dollar firms aren’t immune to AI’s pitfalls when human oversight fails.
