🧪China’s “Pregnant Robot”
+ AI spreadsheet that does 30 hours of work in 30 seconds, ElevenLabs launches "Chat Mode" for its AI agents, and OpenAI releases its cheapest plan exclusively to India

AI is pushing the boundaries.
China’s plan to build a “pregnant robot” has sparked global buzz — a humanoid designed to carry a fetus for 10 months in an artificial womb, with a prototype promised by 2026.
Paradigm is an AI spreadsheet where each cell acts as its own agent, turning 30 hours of work into 30 seconds and saving users more than 10,000 hours so far. ElevenLabs introduced Chat Mode, a text-only setting that lets its AI agents handle typed conversations, making them faster to deploy and better for tasks where voice isn’t needed. And OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Go, a subscription available exclusively in India that gives users access to GPT-5 for just ₹399 ($4.60) a month.
Let’s dive into it.
"Artificial intelligence is not a substitute for human intelligence; it is a tool to amplify human creativity and ingenuity."

Humanoid
China’s “Pregnant Robot”
A China startup, Kaiwa Technology, claims it’s developing the world’s first humanoid robot with an artificial womb — pitched as a way to help address infertility and China’s declining birth rate.
⚡ Fast Facts
Founder: Dr. Zhang Qifeng
Function: Designed to sustain a fetus for a full 10-month pregnancy inside an artificial womb filled with fluid and monitored in real time
Prototype: Promised by 2026
Price point: Under ¥100,000 (~$14k), far cheaper than surrogacy
Context: Infertility affects nearly 1 in 5 couples in China
🔎 The Reality Check
Science gap: Current research has only kept premature lambs alive for weeks in fluid-filled “biobags.” Full human gestation outside the body is still far off.
Verification issues: No patents, peer-reviewed studies, or working demos exist. Nanyang Technological University even denied Zhang’s supposed academic ties.
Legal barriers: China bans commercial surrogacy and enforces a strict 14-day embryo research limit — making real-world deployment nearly impossible right now.
💡 Why it matters: Even if this project never materializes, it reflects how demographic pressures and sci-fi ambition are colliding in China. The story is less about a working robot today and more about the growing debate over what reproduction could look like tomorrow.

Paradigm is reimagining the spreadsheet as an AI-native workspace where every cell has its own agent. Instead of typing formulas or copying data, you can tell cells what to find or analyze, and Paradigm’s infrastructure pulls it in at scale — automating research, workflows, and data entry that normally takes hours.
✨ Key Highlights
Agentic Cells at Scale: Each cell is powered by an AI agent that can scour the internet and trusted databases in real time. Paradigm averages half a billion tokens per minute, letting teams process work at massive throughput.
30 Hours → 30 Seconds: Multi-step research tasks that used to take dozens of hours can now be done in under a minute.
Practical Use Cases:
• Track companies over time
• Automate recruiting workflows
• Run large-scale web research directly inside a spreadsheetQuality Control: A live evaluation pipeline monitors and optimizes data generations, ensuring higher accuracy for scraping and analysis.
Multi-Model Support: Works with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini — giving teams flexibility on cost, accuracy, and reasoning power.
Traction: Thousands of users have already saved 10,000+ hours using Paradigm. Early adopters include EY, Etched, and Cognition.
Pricing: First month free, then plans start at just $20/month.
Funding: Raised $7M led by General Catalyst, with backing from investors like Scott Belsky, Eoghan McCabe, and Harrison Chase (LangChain).
Paradigm reinvents the spreadsheet as a distributed reasoning engine. For analysts, recruiters, and operators buried in repetitive data work, this means hours of drudgery vanish into seconds. By embedding agents in a familiar interface, Paradigm could become the AI-native alternative to Excel or Sheets, bridging today’s workflows with the next era of automated, intelligent data work.

ElevenLabs Launches Chat Mode for Its AI Agents
Introducing Chat Mode
You can now build text-only conversational agents.
Ideal for:
- Customers that prefer typing to speaking.
- Precise inputs like order IDs or email addresses.
- Solving simple issues, handing off to our voice agents for complex tasks.— ElevenLabs (@elevenlabsio)
3:00 PM • Aug 19, 2025
ElevenLabs just launched a new Chat Mode for its agents — letting developers run text-only conversations while keeping all the intelligence of their voice-first platform. Instead of speaking, users can type to an agent in real time, making it ideal for contexts where voice isn’t practical.
✨ Key Highlights
Text-Only Conversations: Agents now work in pure chat mode, no audio required.
Ideal Use Cases: Perfect for customers who prefer typing, or when precise inputs like order IDs, emails, or account details are easier to type than say.
Smart Escalation: Handle simple issues through chat, then seamlessly hand off to a voice agent for more complex tasks.
Fast Deployment: Spin up a chat-based agent in minutes using the SDKs, API, or even a single line of HTML — or enable Chat Mode on an existing agent.
Part of the Platform: Extension of ElevenLabs’ Conversational Agents, which can talk, type, and take action across workflows.
This release makes ElevenLabs’ agent platform more flexible and enterprise-ready. By adding a chat-first option, companies can now meet users in the modality that fits best: typing for speed and precision, speaking for richer conversations. It also lowers the barrier for developers — whether you’re prototyping or scaling, you can deploy in minutes and adapt across channels.

OpenAI
India Gets OpenAI’s Cheapest Model
We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs. 399. 🇮🇳

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, its cheapest-ever subscription at just ₹399/month (~$4.60) — and for now, it’s available only in India. Positioned between the Free tier and Plus, Go gives users 10× more messages, images, and file uploads, plus 2× longer memory and exclusive access to GPT-5.
What’s missing? No browsing, connectors, or Sora — those stay locked in Plus/Pro. With full support for UPI payments (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), Go is aimed squarely at India’s price-sensitive but massive AI user base. If adoption is strong, it could become the template for a global low-cost rollout.
