AI may be everywhere now, but the real gains are not.
McKinseyās new State of AI in 2025 survey shows adoption sitting near universal levels while only one-third of organizations say they are truly scaling it across their business. Google DeepMindās SIMA 2 pushes the frontier further with an agent that can teach itself new skills inside virtual worlds instead of relying on scripted behaviors.
OpenAI is testing ChatGPT Group Chats across Asia Pacific, opening the door to shared AI collaboration. And the latest GPT 5.1 update delivers smarter reasoning and faster responses. It is a week defined by expansion and early signs of what comes next.
Letās get into it.

AI Is Now Everywhere, But Value Is Not
McKinseyās new State of AI in 2025 survey confirms the shift everyone has been feeling: AI is no longer a side project. Eighty-eight percent of organizations now use AI regularly in at least one business function, up from 78 percent a year ago. Yet nearly two-thirds say they are still stuck in experimenting or piloting, and only about one-third have begun scaling AI across the enterprise. AI is showing up in more places, across more industries, but the real transformation is only just starting.
š Where AI Actually Lives Right Now
Near-universal adoption: 88% of organizations use AI in at least one function, and most use it in several.
Multi-function spread: About half now run AI in three or more functions, not just in a single āAI podā.
Front-line functions lead: Marketing and sales, product and service development, service operations, software engineering and IT see the heaviest use.
Agents are emerging, not dominant: A minority are scaling AI agents, usually in just one or two functions, with low single-digit penetration elsewhere.
Traditional sectors are catching up: Energy, industrials, healthcare and other asset-heavy sectors now show meaningful AI use, not just tech and finance.
āļø Adoption Is High, Impact Is Uneven
Scaling is the choke point: Only about one-third of organizations say they are truly scaling AI across the business.
EBIT impact still small: Fewer than half report any EBIT impact from AI, and most of those say it remains under 5%.
Innovation signal is stronger: A clear majority say AI has boosted innovation, with many also seeing better customer satisfaction and differentiation.
High performers think bigger: A small āhigh performerā group aims for growth and innovation, not just efficiency, and invests accordingly.
Workflows are the unlock: Where real value shows up, companies are redesigning workflows around AI and agents instead of simply adding tools on top.
š§ Why It Matters
Using AI is now the baseline. The edge shifts to organizations that integrate it deeply enough to change how work happens, how decisions get made and how fast they can move. As adoption converges near universal, the real gap will be between companies that sprinkle AI on top of old processes and those that quietly rebuild their operating system around it.

SIMA 2: Geminiās Agent That Learns Inside Virtual Worlds
Google DeepMindās new SIMA 2 shows what happens when you drop Gemini into a 3D world and let it learn like a player, not a bot. It understands natural instructions, reasons about goals and teaches itself new skills in unfamiliar games. Instead of scripted behaviors, SIMA 2 acts like a teammate that adapts, explores and explains what itās doing as it moves through virtual environments.
š® Whatās New
Built on Gemini, it plans multi-step actions instead of just following commands.
Trained on human gameplay plus Gemini-generated labels, then improves through self-play.
Adapts to new games like MineDojo or ASKA without retraining from scratch.
Handles natural language, sketches, multiple languages and even emojis as input.
Performs significantly better than the original SIMA across long-horizon tasks.
Can operate inside newly generated Genie 3 worlds and orient itself with no prior data.
š§© Why This Agent Stands Out
Itās a generalist, learning concepts that transfer across completely different games.
Self-play lets it retry, refine and grow its skillset without constant human guidance.
Virtual worlds become training grounds for robotics basics like navigation and tool use.
Released for researchers and developers, signaling ambition beyond gaming.
Limitations remain in memory and long-task reasoning, but the trajectory is clear.
SIMA 2 isnāt about beating games. Itās about proving that a single agent can understand, act and steadily improve across many worlds ā the foundation for future real-world assistants and embodied AI. This is one of the strongest signals yet that adaptive agents are shifting from concept to capability.

(Where we spotlight one powerful tool or feature to help you stay ahead.)
ChatGPT Begins Testing Group Chats Across Asia-Pacific
OpenAI has started piloting ChatGPT Group Chats in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand, marking the first regional rollout of multi-user conversations inside ChatGPT. The feature lets up to 10 people talk with ChatGPT together, share files and images and hand off tasks in real time. It feels less like a chat thread and more like a lightweight collaboration room that blends messaging, planning and AI guidance in one place.
š¬ What the Pilot Includes
Up to 10 participants in a shared conversation with ChatGPT.
File and image uploads that all participants can see and work with.
Shared memory that allows ChatGPT to keep track of decisions and goals across the group.
Real-time task help, summarization and follow-up requests that work for the whole room.
Early focus on classrooms, small teams, clubs and project groups.
Available only in the four test markets while OpenAI measures reliability, safety and dynamics between multiple users.
If this scales globally, group chats could make ChatGPT a tool for planning trips, running study groups, coordinating tasks and even managing small remote teams. It also moves OpenAI into direct overlap with Slack, Discord and WhatsApp for collaborative AI features. The real question is how fast the company moves from testing rooms to full global access.

ChatGPT Gets Smarter and Faster with GPT 5.1
OpenAIās new GPT 5.1 brings sharper reasoning, quicker responses and more control over how ChatGPT behaves. It introduces two performance modes, better memory handling and upgraded coding tools. The update is designed to make ChatGPT feel more adaptive, more personal and more reliable across everyday tasks.
š§ Whatās New in GPT 5.1
Smarter reasoning that adjusts to task difficulty.
Two modes: Instant for speed and Thinking for depth.
Personality presets so ChatGPT can match your preferred tone.
Prompt caching that keeps work active for up to 24 hours.
Stronger coding support with tools like apply_patch and shell.
Accuracy gains across reasoning, coding and tool use benchmarks.
GPT 5.1 is built to feel more natural and more in sync with how people actually work. It responds faster when tasks are simple and becomes more thorough when questions get complex. It also adapts to your communication style, making everyday use smoother and more consistent. This update pushes ChatGPT closer to being a reliable partner rather than just a powerful model.
